Annie Whitehead was born in Oldham, Lancashire, in the heart of brass band country. By the age of fourteen she was busy playing trombone with brass bands, local dance groups and the Manchester Youth Jazz Orchestra. At sixteen, she started her professional career with Ivy Benson's legendary All Girls Orchestra, and spent the next two years touring Europe with that band.

One of the most in-demand musicians in the UK, Annie has works with 'big name' artists including Joan Armatrading, Chris Rea, Bill Wyman, Elvis Costello and Jamiroquai. Annie has led successful Pied Piper music workshops in Ryedale over the past ten years and played numerous SOLD OUT gigs at The Shed. Annie is coming to Kirkbymoorside to work with the Junior Band in preparation for this special concert.
