Funk Workshops with Three Jazz

These FREE workshops are for young musicians of Grade 5 standard or higher, and are a great opportunity to develop performance skills, learning the key features of funk, interpret funk classics and perform as part of a funk band. The proejct will also incorporate an element of recording, and a CD will be produced for all participants.
Day 1: Exploration of the key features of funk, instrument specific activities, work on grooves and soloing; imaginative reworking of classic funk tunes; group composition of an original funk tune.
Day 2: Development of performance pieces; recording session; final performance.
Workshops are suitable for any wind, brass, bass and keyboard players as well as drummers and pecussionists. Led by Leeds trio Three Jazz (Saxophone, Bass, Drum kit/percussion) thre will be opportunities for instrument specific support as well as development of ensemble skills.
