Half Term Indian Drumming & Dance Workshops
These free workshops are designed for children aged 7 - 11 years
Pied Piper is delighted to offer opportunities for children aged 7 - 11 years to take part in FREE Indian drumming and dance workshops during October half term. These workshops are delivered by Pied Piper as part of the NYMAZ programme of activity.
Led by Doncaster based muscian, Satnam Singh, participants will be able to experience traditional styles of music and dance from the Punjab region of India. Participants will learn the skills needed to perform the popular style of Bhangra Dance, as well as having hands on experience of performing specific rhythms and riffs associated with Punjabi drumming using djembes.
The workshops conclude with a short performance by the participants for their families and friends, giving a platform for them to showcase their new skills.
Each day begins at 10.30am and our final performance starts at 2.30pm. Participants need to bring a packed lunch with them and all breaks will be supervised by a member of Pied Piper staff.
Workshops are taking place in five different venues across Ryedale, and places are limited so booking early is advisable. Further information about locations and how to book are below.
Pied Piper is extremely grateful to the funders of this project, NYMAZ, Arts Council England and Reydale Extended Services.
