Jazz & Improvised Music
Pied Piper's close relationship with The Shed means that we are able to provide our participants with access to some of the UK's leading jazz and improvisation artists.
Our jazz and improvised music workshops take a variety of different formats, ranging from workshops for total beginners who find the concept of improvising or learning music by ear both challenging and daunting, to workshops which challenge young players' instrumental techniques, ensemble skills and ideas about jazz and music.
All the musicians we work with are first and foremost professional musicians who have the additional skills, empathy and enthusiasm to work with young people in a creative and innovative way. Wherever possible Pied Piper also provides participants with free or subsidised tickets to see workshop leaders perform at The Shed, providing them with an invaluable opportunity to experience the workshop leader's own performance skills, which is incredibly inspiring for our participants.
