Pied Piper and Kirkbymoorside Brass Band first collaborated in 2009 to provide members of the Junior Band with a totally new muscial experience - jazz and improvised music with trombonist Annie Whitehead.

In 2011 Ewan Easton, Principal Tuba wtih the Halle Orchestra and former member of the renowned Brighouse & Rastrick Brass Band, will work wtih members of the Junior Band to support their development as young brass players, to introduce them to new repertoire and to inspire them as musicians.

This project culminates in a performance by the Junior Band with Ewan Easton, and the ever popular Snior Band on Saturday 26th February.

Ewan Easton MBE

Ewan is Principal Tuba with Britain's longest-established permanent professional symphony orchestra, the Halle, as well as teaching at the Royal Northern College of Music and Manchester University, he even finds time to be the Director of Halle4Brass and Sound Support.

Over the last 30 years, his passion and enthusiasm for performing has taken him around the world performing with most of Britain's great orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orhcestra. He has also had the privilege of working with many of the world's leading conductors, such as Sir Simon Rattle, Claudio Abbado and Yehudi Menuhin.

As a soloist Ewan has performed with many varied ensembles, including numerous performances on BBC Radio 3 with the Ulster Orchestra. He has performed Tuba Concertos by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Edward Gregson and John Williams and gave the world premier of Steve Pickett's Landscapes for Tuba.

Over the last decade Ewan's pioneering work wtih the Ministry of Justice has led to the ground breaking proejct Halle4Brass, which has led to him being nominated for many prestigious awards and accolades, including, in 2010, an MBE in the Queen's New Year Honours List.
