Pied Piper welcomes Manchester duo Whiteboy Productions to Ryedale for the first time this December, to deliver workshops focusing on commercial urban and pop songwriting and basic music production techniques. Working with instruments and music creation software, these workshops are ideal for any young people with an interest in creating their own songs and music.
These FREE workshops are great opportunity to work learn and develop your songwriting skills and music production skills with artists who are working professionally in this field. Simon and Mark will work with participants to explore approaches to lyric writing, music composition - using instruments and/or computers, basic recording and production techniques giving participants the knowledge and skills to continue music making after these workshops.
All the technical equipment, software and support participants need to write, record and produce music is available at these workshops, and at the end of the project each participant will receive a professionally produced CD of their music.
Whiteboy Productions is the song writing and production partnership between Mark White and Simon Murray. They write, record and produce urban and pop songs specifically for commercial release, and launched their debut album in May 2010.
In addition to their work as Whiteboy Productions, both Simon and Mark are busy musicians in their own right. Simon is a founder member of the acclaimed Veya Saxophone Quartet, and regularly tours throughout Europe and America with this group, he is also in demand as a musical director for Music Theatre and shows throughout the UK.
Mark is a composer and producer composing music for TV, commercials, theatre & video games. Mark regularly writes for Tsunami Music (London) who produce music for clients including Warner Bros, EA Games and Microsoft. He has also produced numerous theatre scores for a host of shows at the Bristol Hippodrome presented by the likes of Justin-Lee Collins and Helen Lederer.
